Runway friction tester NAC Dynamic Friction testing device ASTM E2340
This is an airport runway friction tester in good condition. This machine is pulled behind a vehicle down a runway in order to test the coefficient of friction on the runway surface. Tester is self-contained with a battery source and communicates through wifi to a laptop that would be used by an operator in the cab of the pulling vehicle. An onboard tank supplies water to a pump which sprays water in front of a special friction tire. The amount of slip detected by a sensor is the coefficient of friction of the runway. The software on the computer records all of the live data such as the runway temperature, water flow rate, coefficent of friction, speed, etc.
This unit was briefly tested just to verify most of the functions were responsive and it worked well. A few 100 yard runs were completed and we recorded data from all the sensors such as the friction, flow rate and temperature. The unit is in very good used condition with only a few scratches and shows only 21 hours of use. This unit should be calibrated before it is used by the manufacturer.
